This webapp, for use on the iPhone and iPod touch, allows users convenient access to BT's residential telephone directory. Users can enter a surname and location, and are then given a list of results in alphabetical order (by first initial). These are displayed ten at a time. You can click on a result to view the telephone number and full address. If on the iPhone, you can click on these to either call the person or see the person on Google Maps.
If so, please consider leaving a tip with PayPal to help us penniless students keep coding!
If so, click here to see the full list.
I cannot find the person I am looking for. What should I do?
It may be the case that the person you are looking for has chosen not to be listed by British Telecom. This means that they do not want their details disclosed to the public en masse and you will need to find another way to contact them.
How do you get your results?
The results are taken from BT's website 'The Phone Book' - an online version of the printed edition. You can visit them at http://www.thephonebook.bt.com.
So why should I use this WebApp instead of BT's website?
This WebApp is designed with the iPhone and iPod touch in mind. It's interface is in keeping with the rest of the device and, especially if you are an iPhone user on GPRS or EDGE, you may find that this WebApp will load much faster than the official BT site. Furthermore, iPhone users can make calls directly from the website, and have access to Google Maps Links, which BT does not provide.
I have a suggestion as to how you could improve the app... Please let me know! I'm open to any feature suggestions to make the app better. It's the first release, so I'm sure there are plenty you can think of. Or, if you love the app, do let me know! You can e-mail me at iPhone@themacbox.co.uk
I think I found a bug in your site - what should I do?
Please contact us and let us know the problem in as much detail as possible at iPhone@themacbox.co.uk
