The Return of PhoneSaber
There have been rumors aplenty that PhoneSaber would return in an official form to the App Store, and I am very happy to announce that it will indeed return, and should be available on the App Store soon.
The app will have a new name and a whole new look. The new version, Lightsaber Unleashed, will have a strong link to the new multi-platform title Star Wars ®: The Force Unleashed™, which is out soon. Lightsaber Unleashed will feature exciting characters from this new game as well as vastly improved graphics, sound effects and optional dueling music (which was a popular request).
We are still going to be publishing the application, and it will still be free. News will be posted here as it unfolds, but we hope users will be able to update their copy of PhoneSaber to the new LightSaber Unleashed when it becomes available through the App Store. In the mean time, enjoy some screenshots of what you can expect after the jump!

I’d rather that PhoneSaber would remain intact and have Lightsaber Unleashed as a separate app, rather than updating/replacing PhoneSaber. But if the functionality hasn’t changed, IE the same colors and such, I guess I won’t miss the old one too much.
This was the first App I downloaded and it STILL continues to live right on the home screen along with my other frequently used apps

I was anxious about a new update of PhoneSaber and now I read that the app is no longer available I was really sad, but after reading the new app that changes all. Just one question we as owners of the PhoneSaber we could still have that and not changing to the new app (when we get the new app the phonesaber will not be erase). Keep that free and make it better. I love phonesaber and if the new app is better I really don’t want to erase it.

I am one of the lucky guys who have PhoneSaber on my phone – today in My Updates I noticed that the LightSaber Unleashed was present – however I can’t download it – it says that it is not available in my country. WTF?
Why is it not available worldwide?

It’s now in the app store (U.S.), but you can’t just upgrade. Hope they fix that.

I was able to download the Lightsaber Unleashed on my iPhone last night, however it installed the old Phonesaber version. When I tried to re-download it from my iTunes after a few minutes, it has been pulled and is currently unavailable.

OK, now it shows up when I search, but when I click to get to the page to install it, I get a popup that says “The item you’ve requested is not available” and when I acknowledge that it goes back to the search results. Yarrrrrrrrr.

I was checking last night at midnight CST for this, and it was there, the screen shown the new one.. but when I downloaded and installed I have the original Phonesaber installed.. Now it is not showing up.. I guess I got lucky!

Hi, today i searched “lightsaber unleashed released” on Ggle and i found a download link on http://1337g33k.wordpress.com.

ITunes launched, the download page lightsaber U appears with some screenshots. I pressed install button and so as requested i entered my Password, then it dowloaded – normal -
BUT… after it installed on my IPhone i started the app strangely named “Phone saber”.????? Surprise its not an update but exactly the same as the original… What’s that ? I feel like i experimented the very first Itunes’s pishing !!! Please tell me that it is not ! Feeling so noob… may be paranoïac

Hey I’m in Australia and I was able to download the app without any problems using Josh’s link. It shows up in my apps in itunes as “Lightsaber Unleashed”, but when I sync the app to my iPhone it appears to be the old Phonesaber app. Interesting.

I’m pretty sure that the update we’ve been getting is the original update where they made the sound louder and made the motion sensor better (the 1.2 update just before it was pulled). I don’t know why it says Lightsaber Unleashed.

I can’t make a search by the name lightsabre uleashed but I do can download via that link, I don’t really care about being the PhoneSaber 1.2 Actually (I’m one of those who don’t get in time to download the original one), so when the “unveil” yhe new version good for all but in the mean time…enjoy this one!

I’m in the same boat as everyone else. It showed up as an update in iTunes. Downloaded it, synced, and its just the updated version of Phonesaber( which I know because I never got the last version, while my girlfriend did) Not sure what’s up. Looks like an apple issue.

PLEASE…make sure you have some of the old characters (luke, yoda, obi wan, etc.) as well as all the new ones. My son loves this, but doesn’t really like the new characters as much as the old ones. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!
